Product Overview

Our new beeswax only finish washes off your cutting surfaces when you receive it and give it a scrub, which allows you to personalize your cutting board with whatever food safe finish you want, or already use, from whatever company or manufacturer who's finishes you already trust! You use your own finish! Research some good natural finishes so you can have them ready for when you receive your boards!

Our All Natural Simplicity Series Line of cutting boards, perfect for all of your heavy duty cutting or chopping needs. It is approximately 10" Deep x 20" Wide x (1.25"-1 3/8") thick. (Sizes can vary slightly +-1/4"-3/8" as each of these are custom made from one piece of wood) This is the perfect sized board for someone who cooks large meals but does not want a cutting board that is too big and takes up too much counter space or storage space.

The XL is approximately 200 square inches of cutting surface. Compared to our already substantial All Natural Series Large it has almost 25% more cutting surface (large is 160 square inches surface).

These boards are re-enforced with two high grade stainless steel rods in the middle of the board to help stabilize the wood, reducing the chance of wood movement (warping).

It is hand made with care in Canada using one solid piece of Canadian Hard Maple (no glue) and other all natural, and completely non-toxic materials.

All of our products are finished in a 100% Organic Canadian and USA beeswax from Canadian and US apiaries.

How it works!  We only put Organic beeswax on your cutting board, that's it!  This allows you to choose the oil or oil and wax finish you'd like to use when it arrives at your home!

What do you do when you get it? Couldn't be simpler.

1. Use the board (or go straight to step 2)

2. Give the whole board a good hand wash with a little soap and a cloth and rinse with warm water.

3. Wipe it dry with a towel,  then let it fully air dry

4. Apply a few coats of your own finish from whatever company you want to buy from (Yes, even just a straight oil, or an oil/wax for some added protection, and let each coat absorb for a bit (or follow the manufacturers directions for that finish)

5. That's it. You're done. Use it normally. And re-oil/wax as needed

We've been asked so many times to use a host of different finishes.  Many want to make their own, or they've used a specific finish for years.  Some just wipe them down with their preferred oil, some use an oil/wax (board butter)

Our new light coat of beeswax allows you to have your cutting board your way!  Only beeswax, that's all that on top of a natural glue free piece of Canadian hard maple!

Allergy alert* We currently use Coconut oils in our facility as well as the following: Hard Maple wood, gum tree rubber (natural latex), carnauba wax, stainless steel (304), Beeswax. Any and all of these materials may be in or contact your cutting board.

Hard Maple is one of the hardest, and most durable woods, and can withstand heavy use in a kitchen. Most professional grade butcher block and cutting boards are made of Hard Maple. It is a closed grained hardwood (unlike oak, etc) that doesn't absorb bacteria easily, and with antibacterial properties on top of that it makes it the most preferred wood for cutting boards and wooden utensils.

The completely non-slip feet on this cutting board are made of hand cut all natural gum rubber, yes, natural rubber from a tree, NOT PVC or synthetic rubber, and they are affixed to the board with high grade stainless steel screws that will NEVER rust.

Our All Natural Series cutting boards are:

-100% Canadian made!

-100% Canadian Hard Maple sourced within 100 miles of our facility in Ontario Canada.

-Absolutely NO Glues or adhesives, made from a solid piece of Canadian Hard Maple

-Absolutely NO Fungicides, herbicides, or pesticides used during manufacturing (NO antisap stain coatings)

-Absolutely NO petroleum or synthetic finishes, only truly organic, natural nature made finishes.

-A tree is planted for every Urthware board sold to help offset our footprint.

(Coconuts are NOT part of the tree nut family their name is a misnomer). Coconuts resist rancidity also, as well as having antibacterial and anti fungal properties.

PLEASE READ/NOTE:

*All cutting boards (regardless of finish chosen) use organic beeswax to fill imperfections as well as to water seal the feet and re-enforcing bars.

*For residential use only

Imperfections:

This cutting board is made of one solid piece of face grain Canadian hard Maple. It contains NO GLUES or toxic adhesives of any sort and is completely natural. Remember, that because it is made with one piece of hard wood there are always some completely natural discolorations and imperfections like mineral staining, spalting, knots, etc. There may be darker and lighter areas as well. As we do not fill holes with epoxies or other toxic substances, we DO NOT sell cutting boards with holes, grooves, or any significant defects in the top of your board that could harbor bacteria, there can be some in the bottom or sides as it is not a cutting surface.

Wood movement:

For us to keep these cutting boards glue free and organic, we make them from one piece of wood, note that ALL wooden cutting boards, (and really anything made of wood) will display some movement (warping) from moisture, it can even be from weather change, and boards made from one piece of wood are, in general, more prone to warp than "glued up" edge grain cutting boards. It this happens we can not consider this a defect, we can do nothing about this as wood is a natural material that can and will move. You can usually avoid any excessive movement by keeping your board dry and well oiled.

Note on maintenance:   If you would like to use your own organic finishing oil, that is absolutely up to you!. .  Maintaining any wooden cutting board with oil and/or oil/wax is a must to help prevent staining, water absorption, and warping and cracking.

    Solid board

Posted by Kathleen Mount on 26th Aug 2020

This is a sturdy solid board which I believe will last a very long time. Unlike boards that are laminated together and eventually split, this board is one solid piece. Love it

    Healthiest cutting boards!

These cutting boards are just what we were looking for and really delivered! Super easy to clean-it seems that the wood used or organic finish really doesn't hold any grease, strawberry stains or onion smells. Plus holds up really nice to sharp knife cuts. Very happy!

Wow, so solid - Only natural one

Posted by Bubble girl on 10th Aug 2017

It so hard to find a even partially natural cutting board. We not only got one,but two. We got to choose the natural finish, which helped my immune issues too. The boards are solid, grip well, are rather light for how solid they are. We like the workmanship and durability. We are chopping vegetables, sweet potato, and squashes, so we really used it for more than a month now and it is holding up great.
